Resource Center Network (RCN)
Through the RCN, we aim at two strategic goals: (i) to stimulate a strong reading culture in Uganda’s population, especially the young generation; (ii) to solicit and disseminate life-transforming information, knowledge and insights to as many people as possible in form of stationary and mobile resource centers. Currently, CYEES is concentrating on opening resource centers in schools.  Every member of SCF is required to buy a prescribed book and after reading it puts into the resource centre. By contributing only one prescribed book, one is entitled to access all the books brought into the pool by others. What a cheap way of owning a life-changing library!

Other Training Programmes For University/ Tertiary Students

ASET (Academic Skills Enhancement Training) targets students who feel they need to develop practical skills and insights that enhance their interest and proficiency in academic work. The programme explores the essential aspects of personal mental power that are usually not tackled in class, yet are so central to academic work. It aims at helping students to understand how the human mind works and how to enhance its capacity to think creatively, critically, fast and consistently in order to generate the desired results on demand, especially in the pursuit of scholarly work. It also includes the essential communication skills for effective writing and public presentations. ASET is covered over a total of 15 contact hours and 15 hours of personal practicals.

ALMS (Advanced Life Management Skills) Training is not limited to any category of target group. As human beings we all need it. The programme enables one to develop an internal locus of direction and control that facilitates the making of the most optimal choices at every moment of life, especially the capacity to navigate successfully through moments of stress, frustration and disappointments without losing one’s head or heart. Based on the science of Emotional Intelligence, this programme builds’ the participant’s sense of self-awareness and self-mastery and purposeful living. It seeks to answer the question: How do you stay focused on your purpose and goals despite life’s inevitable odds?

Employment Strategies and Work Orientation for Finalists and Fresh Graduates (ESWOFF)
A three-phased practical training programme for developing the right skills and mindset for job creation, job acquisition and career excellence among young people in transition from school to the world of work.
Method of Learning: ESWOFF employs a deeply reflective “do-it-yourself” experiential approach to learning. It is an action oriented learning process based on deep personal reflections that seek to invoke and convert the inner resourcefulness of each human being into creative mental forces. Within the training room participants are seated in Learning Circles (groups) for purposes of intensive sharing of personal experiences and insights. A team of five facilitators is available full time to animate the whole learning process. The tools and learning aids are practical and include Inspirational Videos and Audios, Simulation Games, Role Plays, Puzzles, Field Visits, Practical Assignments, Personal Assignments, and Group Work. Show-case role models are hosted as guest speakers on various topics so that participants can “get it from the horse’s mouth” in a free interactive environment.

YAMI
Young Authors Mentoring Initiative (YAMI)
Through this initiative HCDC seeks to provide opportunities for young authors to show-case their talent. Human Potential Publications was purposely established to ensure that young and unknown writers, usually neglected by most publishers, also get a chance to be published. This is a necessary thing if Ugandans (Africans) are to take charge of their own developed through participating in knowledge creation and influencing the knowledge economy.
